Local SEO: make sure Google and AI know where you are and when you open
Local search visibility for a business with an address depends on its website stating, in a format machines read without guessing, what the business is, where it is and when it opens. SmoothSeen checks this on your page and compares it with your Google Business Profile when it can read it.

What it checks
A page counts as a local business if it declares LocalBusiness markup (or one of its subtypes) or has a Google Business Profile on the same domain. Then, on top of the search and AI checks, it gets these:
- Local business
- Address, opening hours, coordinates and a Google Business profile, to show up in searches with local intent.
- Data consistency
- That what the page says matches what directories and external listings say.
Specifically
- LocalBusiness markup, or the subtype that fits: dentist, restaurant, driving school…
- A structured address and geographic coordinates.
- Opening hours.
- Proximity terms in the text: the neighbourhood, the city or the area you serve.
- That you have a Google Business Profile and that its details match the page.
- That your details match those in directories.
What you get
- Your search and AI visibility scores, with a block of its own for local businesses.
- What your page is missing to answer “where is it?” or “is it open now?”, with what was found.
- When your Google Business Profile can be read, the differences between what the profile says and what the website says.1
- An action plan ordered by severity and, if you measure them, what competing businesses do better.

What it does not do
It does not manage your Google Business Profile, does not publish to directories and does not measure your position in Google Maps. It tells you what the website is missing and, when it can read the profile, what does not match between the two.

Frequently asked questions
What is local SEO?
It is the work of showing up when someone searches for a business nearby: in Google, in Google Maps and in AI assistants’ answers. It depends on the Google Business Profile and on the website clearly stating name, address, opening hours and area.
How does SmoothSeen know my site belongs to a local business?
Because the page declares LocalBusiness markup, or one of its subtypes, or because it has a confirmed Google Business Profile on the same domain. If neither applies, the local checks are not required.
What is LocalBusiness markup for?
It states, in a format machines read without guessing, what the business is, where it is and when it opens. Without it, a search engine or an assistant has to infer those details from the text of the page.
Does it review my Google Business Profile?
It checks whether one exists and, when it can read it, whether its details match the page. It does not edit or manage it: that is done in Google.
Is the local SEO analysis free?
Yes. The free plan runs the same checks as the paid ones and gives both scores, the summary by area and the first items of the action plan; the paid plans add the detail of every check, more analyses a month, the full plan, the PDF, the competitor comparison and tracking. You need to create an account to run the analysis.
