Short answers on how to run an analysis, how to read the report, what you can share with a client and what changes from one plan to another.

Getting started

How do I analyse a site?

Type the address into the field on the home page or in the dashboard and run the analysis. You need an account: if you do not have one yet, the address you typed on the home page is kept while you sign up and analysed when you reach the dashboard.

How long does an analysis take?

A few minutes. The two audits, search visibility and AI visibility, run in parallel, and the dashboard shows them as soon as they finish.

What is a client in the dashboard?

A website. From the Professional plan, analyses are grouped by domain on their own: yoursite.com, yoursite.com/blog and yoursite.com/products go to the same client, and each client holds its competitors and scheduled analyses. On the Free plan each analysis is a standalone URL.

Reading the report

What does each audit check?

Search visibility looks at how a search engine finds the page: crawling and indexing (robots.txt, sitemap and canonical URL), speed and Core Web Vitals on mobile and desktop, title, description, headings, broken links, security and structured data. AI visibility looks at whether an assistant can read and cite it: whether its search crawlers can get in, whether the answer comes first, whether there are figures and sources to cite, FAQs with their markup and local business signals where they apply.

Why does a page have no score?

Because it is blocked: it does not allow indexing, its canonical URL is on another domain or it does not respond. Such a page does not compete worse, it simply does not compete, so the report shows the reason for the block instead of a number.

Where do I start fixing?

With the action plan: what fails, grouped and in order of priority, with which of your competitors already pass it. Start at the top.

Does the report say whether ChatGPT or Gemini cite me?

No. It checks whether your page is in a position for an assistant to read and cite it (whether its crawlers can get in, whether they find the answer, whether there are figures to cite), not whether it is already citing you.

Downloading and sharing

Can I download the report as a PDF?

Yes, from the Professional plan. There are four PDFs: web positioning, AI positioning, competitors and action plan. They come from the same calculation as the screen, so they say the same thing.

How do I show the report to a client without giving them access to my account?

With a share link, created from the report. Whoever opens it sees search visibility, AI visibility and the action plan, and can download the PDF, without an account. The link can be revoked: it stops working for good, and the next one you create will be different.

Can the report carry my agency's brand?

Yes, on the Agency plan: the PDF, the share link and the email alerts carry the agency name, logo and colour. On the Professional plan they carry the SmoothSeen brand.

Competitors and monitoring

How many competitors can I compare a site with?

Up to three per client. SmoothSeen can suggest them or you can choose them, and the comparison shows who wins each check. Each competitor is analysed like any other site, so it counts towards the month's analyses.

Can I schedule automatic analyses?

Yes, from the Professional plan: each client is analysed monthly on Professional, weekly on Agency and daily on Enterprise. If the web or AI positioning score drops 5 points or more against the previous analysis, an email alert arrives. Analyses you run by hand never alert.

Is the analysis history kept?

From the Professional plan, yes: the dashboard keeps each client’s previous analyses.

Account and plans

How many analyses can I run?

As many as your plan includes each month, counted from the 1st. Every analysis you run counts, competitors included. If you run out, the analysis is not started and the dashboard shows how many you have used and how many your plan includes; the count starts again the following month.

What changes from one plan to another?

The checks are the same on every plan, but on Free you see both scores and the summary by area of each analysis, and the detail of every check from Professional. What also changes is the analyses a month, the clients and the saved analyses; the action plan (on Free, the first three items); the PDF, the link and the competitor comparison (from Professional); white label (Agency); and monitoring and the questions tracked in ChatGPT and Gemini.

How do I change or cancel my subscription?

From your profile, under subscription management, which takes you to the Stripe billing portal.

I have forgotten my password. What do I do?

On the log-in page, click "Forgot your password?". You will get a link by email to choose a new one, at least 8 characters long.

Can I change my email address or username?

Yes, from your profile, where you can also change your password. Your username changes straight away. To change your email we ask for your current password and send a link to the new address: your account email changes when you open it, and we let the old address know about the change.

How do I delete my account?

From your profile, under "Your data": type your account email and your password to confirm. If you have a paid subscription, it is cancelled first; then your account, clients, analyses, white-label settings and shared links are deleted. It cannot be undone, so you can first download a copy of all your data as JSON from the same place.

How many analyses can I keep?

Each account keeps a maximum number of analyses, which depends on the plan; your dashboard shows how many you have and the maximum. When you reach it, delete one from the list to run another: none is ever deleted unless you choose it, not even when you move to a lower plan. Analyses that are being measured cannot be deleted until they finish. Scheduled monitoring does not delete anything either: at the maximum it pauses and we email you.
